Logging

In order to facilitate capture of information from our various records, all the detail view pages include Log and View Log buttons, which may be used to log what is seen on the page, and to verify the current contents of the log.

While there is no requirement to start the log as such, a Start/Clear Log button is provided here, and on the initial Indexes page, which clears the contents of the log, and provides a time-stamped header for a new log.

Printing the log may be done at any time from the View Log page by using standard browser printing support. It is recommended to use your browser's Print Preview option to check that actual printing of the log will be as expected. Print Preview allows you to increase or decrease the font size to avoid line overflows, and ensure you get a good printout. The View Log page is brought up as a new tab to your browser session. This means that you may close it after viewing/printing it, or leave it there, and continue your session by selecting the tab from which you came.

A specific Print Log button is also provided here and on the initial Indexes page. This is essentially the same as using View Log, except that a final time-stamped log message is appended to round off the log, before you use your browser (see above) to actually print the log.

This button is only provided here, and on the West Middlesex Indexes page. Any current log contents are cleared, and a new log is started.
This button is provided on each Detail page where a detail record is displayed, and should be used to log what is displayed on the page. On this page the button is a dummy.
This button is provided wherever the Log button is provided, and will cause the current log to be displayed under a new tab. You may also use your browser's Print Page facilities to print directly from the viewed log.
This button is only provided here, and on the West Middlesex Indexes page. It acts like the View Log button, but it also writes a log closure entry to properly finish off the log.
To get back to what you were doing, either use your browser's Back facility, or using this button will do it.
